Brief History 2011-2019
The "Hellenic Graduates' Association of Department of Marine Sciences" (HGADMS), was founded in 2011 with the approval of its Statute by the Athens Court of First Instance. The necessary procedures for the legal registration of HGADMS and its final form as a Scientific Association, nationwide, were carried out in 2019, by the Board of Directors 2018-2020 of HGADMS. The amendment of the Statute of Association was approved by the Athens Court of First Instance. HGADMS is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization.

The Hellenic Graduates' Association of Department of Marine Sciences (HGADMS) is active in the field of oceanographic and marine sciences research and works on issues which relate to the coastal and marine environment. HGADMS is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization.
The activities of HGADMS so far include the organization of workshops on issues related to oceanographic interest, institutional interventions in government agencies and decision-making centers on issues related to the Greek seas, collaborations with teachers in the framework of Environmental Education Programs, participation in international conferences, participation in research programs, presence in the domestic media to inform the public on issues related to the coastal and marine environment and much more.


The main objectives of HGADMS are;
 The promotion, development and dissemination of Oceanographic Science and Marine Sciences,
 The promotion, enhancement and establishment of oceanographic studies in Greece,
The safeguarding and distinction of the professional rights of researchers,
 The cooperation with the Greek State and other Public and Private actors who are active in the coastal and marine environment aspiring to provide solutions to arising problems and contribute to the effective protection and management in the context of sustainable development,
The provision of information, education and raising of public awareness on issues relating to the coastal and marine environment as well as others which are of grave importance for Greece.
